Boy did I wake up hungover on the second day of the tour! Serves me right for all those drinks and tequila shots!
We headed down to breakfast and met Kahly and Liv. Unfortunately my stomach was churning and I felt way too sick to eat anything, although I did manage a bite of a donut. After breakfast we quickly got ready and put our bathers on underneath our clothes because we were off to do the James Bond island day trip!
We met up with everyone and there were two new tour mates who had flown in late the night before, so they hadn’t met everyone yet. They were two lovely girls our age and they were Aussies too, from Brisbane!
We all hopped into a few vans and I was sitting right up the back – not a good idea! After a little bit of driving feeling like I was going to vomit/ pass out, I yelled out for someone to give me a bag. And then it started. I ended up moving to the front where I sat spewing in these little plastic bags. Luckily the driver was really cool about it, offering to pull over for me, and giving me stuff to smell that was meant to help. By the time we got on the boat I wasn’t vomiting anymore but still felt verrrry sick. Word of warning- don’t drink excessively before boat trips or activities ! It was also quite embarrassing that myself and Kahly seemed to be the only ones who couldn’t handle our drinks from the night before (myself mostly). But, when in Thailand 😛
The day trip was breathtakingly beautiful as they take you to some awesome spots where movies like James Bond were filmed. We got to explore caves and also had the chance to jump off the boat in a lagoon area and get our photos taken. Many of us grabbed life jackets so we could relax without trying to tread water for too long. We also got to take pictures at a beach where James Bond was filmed (although I don’t think I’ve seen the movie!
My favourite part of the day was when the boat stopped near these caves/beaches. We all partnered up and hopped into kayaks with our own personal kayak man! He paddled for us and everything, we just gave him a tip at the end. It was amazing just sitting back and relaxing while he took us through caves and to little private beaches (although not so private cos there were a fair few other tourists there at the same time!) There were a few good photo opportunities as well. When we headed back to the boat our guide stopped nearby so Liv and I could have a little swim in the crystal clear water (none of the other guides seemed to so we were lucky!).
Tonight we had a buffet dinner at the hotel, which was quite average as there wasn’t too many exciting foods on selection. But it was included so who can complain! We headed back down to Bangla road for a few drinks again but were quite exhausted from the days adventure so headed backed fairly early to rest up for day 3. However before we headed back we watched a lady who was about 65 dance up on a bar on a pole for what seemed like hours! It was hilarious yet also embarrassing. Apparently she lives there and she does it quite often.
At some point during this day we got to know our 3 fellow Aussie girls, and basically hung together for the rest of the trip!
